What happen to our "gracious society"?

Chinese New Year is just round the corner, and i have not buy any clothes. The elders usually encourage the younger generation to buy new clothes and wear them on the first day of the New Year, to bring re-new luck and good fortune. Who started all that stuff anyway? Must be some clothes seller.........

Was at the hawker centre taking my lunch, as usual the place was packed to the brim. Whenever you are in Singapore's hawker centre during meal times, there are 2 things that needs immediate action. Firstly you need to locate an empty or partially empty table. Then you got to look for chairs to fit the amount of people sharing the table with you.

At the hawker centre, people just grabbed the chair within your table without asking or at least giving a gesture to ask for permission. This happened today and my girl friend immediately went get my chair back for me. When she approached the aunty, she just gave a 10 cents face with a "tsk" to signify her displease. Then she walk around and grab another chair from another table, without asking again.

At times, when i ask if its ok for me to take the chair some people will just shake their heads or give me a high five to tell me its being taken. Taken by what? Resting on them are not bums, be it humans or animals. Instead they place groceries, bags and whatever belongings of their owners.

Another culture in Singapore is using tissue papers or name tags to make reservations or as a form of indication that the place is temporary annexed. It reminds me of dogs who piss to mark their spot and later another dog will come along, piss on the same spot to indicate a change of ownership.

During MRT trips. I like to stand and do some "people watch". Nowadays less respect is given to pregnant women or the elderly. Aren't you suppose to give your seat like what we use to learn from morale education? Learning what is taught in school is one thing, practicing is another.

Malaysia government recently accused Singapore for causing the flood in Kota Tinggi without any proof. Well, way to go dear leaders and what a way to show the future leaders, how to do the job. You know, its kind of familiar when this incident was brought to my knowledge. Remember the time when we were children and when we trip and fall, what happens after that? Yes we blame the floor for making us hurt ourselves. That makes us feel better didn't it?

lol tissue paper case is just soooooo familiar and easily seen in makan places at city area. It can be such a disgrace, imaging a foreigner/tourist who don't know this "custom" of us and sat down assuming the seat was empty, or so coincidentally the tissue got blown off the table by a gust of wind from who-knows-where, and another person just sit down coincidentally as well.

Yah, they can claim that they're in rush of time so all must go and order food at the same time, so ain't other people's time time too. Screw it. Next time they should just go and make a "Reserved" board and place it on the table just like those posh retaurant. At least it will be safe from the wind =op
