Anybody noticed that the weather is getting hotter??? Man.. its getting harder to get use to the scorching heat. Basically it is bloody hot and humid in Singapore. My fan kept giving me the no signal as it swivel its "head" throughout the night. The aircon is just sitting there collecting dust. I bet it will be even hotter next year so better try to bear with it first.

Mamma mia.... i just love laksa. Just like cheesie who goes nuts about curdled milk products sometimes i wonder has she been to any cheese factory before. The smell was horrible and i remember my first question when i visited one of these factories was "Who farted??"
Back to my laksa thingy. Laksa's taste is some what different from the regular curry you find in any eating house. How do you describe it??? A bowl of spicy soup that comes with noodle or bihun (what do you call bihun in english?), to fu, bean sprouts, etc....
Men are never good at describing. How men eats is also different from the ladies.
Men:
Takes chopsticks and spoon, grab as many as he can on those 2 scrawny sticks then stuff everything into the mouth and activate the chewing process. Repeat these babaric steps until there is nothing left in the bowl. Wipe mouth, burps, laugh at how loud you can burp and scratch backside.
Ladies:
Take tissue paper wipes spoon and chopsticks. Takes the spoon, have a sip of the soup. Try to savour individual taste of the soup by making use of every single taste bud on the tongue. "Not too sweet, not too sour, a little spicy but still managable." Proceed with the next thing in the bowl and the a feel of the texture. "Hm... the noodles have the correct texture and not too soggy." Repeat steps until whatever food left in the bowl is fully consumed..... well most of the time not. Female likes to leave left overs for the "good brothers" to sniff as wasting food is a natural ability. Also, they take hell of a long time to finish eating.
I tried to write a review on some famous laksa stalls in Singapore. Guess it fail terribly.... Here is how it goes:
My my my... i just loved laksa not lousy ones of course. I'd like to introduce this laksa from *censored*. I forgot the name of the stall actually but nevermind. Its very easy to locate. Just look for the queue and a stall that is decorated with tags and endorsement from various programmes and media.
Okay.. first of all a good bowl of laksa must have the correct taste and the main contributor would come from soup. As you can see from the picture, the soup looks thick nothing like my primary school canteen where they dilute the whole concoction with water and makes it bland. I can virtually see through the soup to the base of the bowl and count the strands of noodles.
I stir it to get the soup even and then do the thickness test. This is where you pick up a spoon full and drips them back into the bowl. Nothing like those diluted kinds that goes "plat plat plat plat" where as this mixture goes "tum tum tum tum". Yay! it should be able to give a delay effect which preserves the taste at the tongue even when the soup left for the stomach. If the soup is too watery, your tongue will go "Oei!! Don't swallow so fast!! I have not thoroughly taste anything yet" and send the wrong signal to the brain which couldn't be bother to give instuction to the body to finish the whole bowl of laksa.
As soon as i sat down, the aroma emitted from the laksa teased my nose, which activated my salivary glands and immediately my mouth watered like a hungry dog. Man... i was getting very impatient, i wish that i could just throw away my spoon and chopsticks, pick up the bowl and drink directly from it. Still have to jaga handsome cos got female taster around ma. When the soup entered my mouth it feels so heavenly. The mixture of santan (coconut milk) and spices was so well balanced that it felt so smooth when swallowed, macam tasting the finest range of VSOP. Wait a minute.... i am dancing with the heh bi hiam (dried shrimps) as their taste is significant which compliment the soup which is already spectacular.
Next, i pick up a tao pok (dried bean curd) and proceed with the test. My eyes brightens immediately as i chew the tao pok, the process squeezes the soup out from it just like eating a big fat juicy lychee. I didn't know a tao pok can hold so much soup to the extent that I have to verify that i am not chewing a sponge. Of course i need to place it back into my mouth after that.
I try to dig for more items that comes with the whole package but only to find a few slices of fish biscuit, tao geh (bean sprouts), and nothing else.????? What happen to the tao ki?? Why aren't there any bean curd? Er... is there a difference between Singaporean Laksa and Malaysian Laksa? No wonder its $2.50. The cons here is there is a lack of ingredients which i just stated. Overall it can be considered a nice bowl of laksa.
My friend's bowl of laksa with loads of "hum". See how "hum sap" she is....-------> Rubber
